Market Recap
There is not much to report tonight for any changes in the indices.  They remain in a holding pattern and traded just about flat today with a number of leading stocks taking a hit.  This morning's futures were up and things looked promising, but we know that those pre-market futures are only good for about the first 3 minutes after the market opens, then all bets are off.  There was a head fake open with many stocks reversing and heading down just after their higher opens.  This happens more often than not when the futures are up in pre-market.  As a result, the Dow finished with a loss of 2 points.  The Nasdaq was down 4 points and the S&P lost 2 points.

Tough Trading Day
We attempted to "stock" up the portfolio today by adding a few long positions.  Those positions were quickly sold and became day trades once it was determined that the bounce plays we said we would look for in the pre-market alert failed.  We do not like to enter and exit stocks for the service in the same day (and it does not happen often) but in this market, we will not take the chance of holding something that is not moving up or at least basing and holding its gains.  When these bounce plays work, the results can be great. But if they fail and come back to the entry area, you have to assume the worst and get out of the trade before the loss mounts.  These plays today lost a little over 1% each and the risk was well worth taking a chance.

In hindsight, we probably over traded when we could have just sat tight, but we were looking to get a couple of nice bounces.  You cannot make money if you do not try so we gave these trades a try.  The most important part of trading is realizing that the trade is not working out the way you planned. When that happens, take action to get out of the trade and conserve your cash.  Remember, making money is important, but it is even more important to keep from losing it.

A History of STHQ
As a reminder, there is a complete history of everything we have done at STHQ since our inception. The Topic Index, along with the Chart, Ticker, Alert, Bulletin, and Commentary Indexs are now located in the resource section of the website.  These indexes were located in the left side bar menu but were re-located to the resource section recently.

The resource section is where you will find a history of all past trades, charts, alerts, bulletins, and commentaries since our inception for your review.  There is a lot of information there and well worth the time to read through.  What I particularly like is the Ticker Index.  Here is where you can research any ticker and if we have ever had it on the bulletin, you can see:
- when it was on the bulletin,
- annotated charts we may have shown,
- alerts we may have sent, and
- all previous comments we made on the stock while it was on the bulletin.

You can track the progress of any stock you are interested in using this history. It is a very good reference of past performance.  As a side note, for those new members who wonder if we short stocks, yes we do. Take a glance at KKD in the ticker section.  We had fun with that one.

I have listed some short plays in the chart section tonight for those who play the short side of the market.
