Market Recap
The markets today were flat once again.  Not much life in the indices at all over the last couple of days.  This is not necessarily bad news.  I look at this as a period of consolidation after the big rally we had on Friday.  If the market were weak, those gains would not have been sustained.  The fact that the market is not selling off, even though there are a lack of buyers, is a good sign.  Today, the Dow was up a mere 8 points, the NASDAQ gained 4 points, and the S&P traded flat.

The Power of TA
Our bulletin stocks are on a roll while the market consolidates we have many bulletin stocks making new highs each day.  VDSI looks incredibly strong.  AAPL continued up today, busting out of the pennant I showed in last nights chart.  Other stocks on our list doing very well include ATVI, DDDC, IFOX, ISWI, HLIT, MIPS, ILMN, TSAI, and SNRR.  Our OTC bb gem APYM was up almost 50% since we listed it at 1.05 two days ago.  This is the power of TA.  It is all about spotting the right stocks with the most powerful chart set-ups that move when they are ready, regardless of the overall market conditions.

The 2006 Budget plan
President Bush unveiled his budget for 2006.  The fiscal year for the government starts in October, and it is probably going to take that long to debate this budget plan.  $2.57 trillion dollars is the proposed price tag on this budget.  President Bush has plans to do a lot of cutting.  This is a unique plan in that most new budgets come out with more spending and less cuts.  Many state senators are going to be upset when they see what programs are on the chopping block in their states.

There are key areas highlighted in the report and, like we have stated many times before, those areas are security and homeland defense.  These are top priorities for the President.  What does that mean for us? Security and homeland defense stocks could be stocks that we may want to watch.  Right now, I am not impressed with the charts in the security group, so I would not buy them now however, given time to repair they could still run once the word gets out about the spending plan.  This is not a recommendation to buy them early, just something to watch for.

Military spending will get a boost of 4.8%, or about $420 billion.  Our focus should be on this area, given that charts in this sector look much better than the security stocks.  If we can identify where the spending will take place, we can then identify the types of programs that will benefit.  Once you answer that question, you then have those particular stocks within the sector and can add them to your watch list.  So, instead of your favorite book, try snuggling up with a copy of the 2006 budget.  It may put you to sleep, but if you can stay awake long enough to get through it, you may discover a few hidden gems before Wall Street does.

Name Change Announcement
Ladies and Gentleman, we have chosen the new name for our service.  The name change will be effective sometime in the next week or so. If you type in the TWPD URL, you will automatically be directed to the new URL.  The website has not changed; all the features will be the same. If you are new and do not know why we decided to change our name, please see the commentary dated 1 Feb 05 (The Name Game).

Thank you for all your emails and suggestions, they were all great and it was a very tough decision.  There were so many great names to choose from.  And the winner is...  www.StockTradersHQ.com, Stock Traders Headquarters.  The member (name withheld by request) that suggested this name will receive a one year free subscription to our service.  Congratulations.

Please tell a friend about our service.  As always, thank you for your support past, present and future! We will see you Tomorrow evening.

Do not forget to check your short-term holdings and know when those companies are reporting earnings. Holding a stock through earnings is risky and I do not recommend it. You can always buy the stock back after the dust settles.
