Market Recap
Yesterday's big rally continued today with some nice follow through buying that led the Dow higher by +56 points, the NASDAQ by +6 points, and the S&P by +4 points. Volume started to dry up late in the afternoon as traders decided to pack it in early and start their long holiday break. Our commentary tonight is brief as I suspect tomorrow to be a very slow day of trading with volume on the side of anemic. There are not many updates tonight but I do have a chart of the NASDAQ I think you will be happy with. With that said, this will be our shortest commentary of the year.
Long Term Portfolio Update
We currently have four open positions in our long term portfolio. GNLB and SCON are doing very well. FNSR was just added this week, and SPAB is not working out as planned. We have six more positions to fill in this portfolio and that will bring us up to 10 open positions (100% long with 10% in each position). I want to start the year 2005 fully positioned so I am looking for some long term stocks to place in this portfolio. Again the goal of this portfolio is to find stocks that we think can gain 100-1000% over the long term. We have closed out three positions since this portfolio was started in April 2004. These positions were:
- SIRI (122% gain),
- UPCS (59% gain), and
- WBR (9% loss).
I am looking to add TXCC, IIP, and VIGN sometime in the next couple of weeks. This will still leave us with three positions left to fill. I will continue to look for stocks until we are 100% long.
Holiday Season Bulletins
There will be no bulletin on Thursday December 23rd because the market is closed on Friday in observance of the Christmas holiday. There will be no bulletin next Thursday December 30, because the market is only open for only a half day trading on New Year's Eve.
