Good evening friends,
Today was a very rough ride for the bulls in this market. The bears came out of the chute selling from the get go and, accept for a few selected stocks, there were no buyers to be found until the late afternoon. In the last hour, buyer's came out of the woodwork to snatch up what they think are bargains and try to play a bounce. Although the market did have a nice rally into the close, I don't think we are out of the woods yet. I have a chart of the NASDAQ tonight that will show you what I'm talking about.
Even with all the down draft in today's market, a few selected stocks listed in last night's Bulletin could have been played today for some nice gains. Some of you played them and congrats to all those who did. Like I said in last night's commentary, there are always some stocks going up even in a down market, and I think we did a fairly good job of finding them last night in preparation for today's action.
RTK was up 23% on record volume. I had a chart of this last night with a buy point of .92 and it closed at 1.10, defying today's market trend. DISK rose 7% today on 3X average volume. NMGC also had a great day, rising 11% on 10X average volume and making a high of 3.70. You could have bought all three of these today before they took off. RTK opened at .91, DISK opened at 4.05 and NMGC opened at 3.16. I would not advise buying the open but you could have still got in at a respectable level 20 or 30 minutes into trading.
BCON also had a powerful day, up 16% on near record volume and making a high of 1.38. Today's action in the market has broken some charts, and there are only few for us to choose from tonight. I hope you have started to lighten up on some of your positions last week when I was selling my positions. I have very few open positions left compared to where I was a couple of weeks ago. Two weeks ago I was 100% long and ready to go on margin. I was able to spare myself the agony of what would have been a grave mistake had I done that. By looking at the chart of the NASDAQ and seeing in advance of what was about to happen, I was able to raise some cash and lock in profits before the sell off came. Charts can sometimes lie to us, but most of the time, they will tell you the truth. If you read them correctly, you will know in advance what direction a stock or a market will take.
Our list of stocks should be getting smaller when the market goes lower, but I keep seeing more charts looking good each night so I have them for you. Gold stocks are hot right now and will continue to be IMO. Normally, these stocks won't do well if the techs are going up but they have been running along with tech as this market rallied. Now if tech should fall, gold could very well keep running. We should have some exposure to these stocks on the Bulletin so I brought a few past winners back tonight.
As far as the overall market goes tomorrow, we will just have to see how she opens before committing any cash. Remember, if you can lock in a profit, I would do it and stash the cash for now. Cash is king this week friends. Have a great night everyone I'll see you Tuesday evening.
